We’re excited to offer our Modern Weight Loss program to patients across the country in states where Modern Thyroid Clinic is licensed—and you don’t need to be an existing MTC patient to join!
‍
The only exceptions are patients residing in Alabama, Arkansas, or Connecticut, where we are currently unable to offer this service.

Weight loss resistance and weight gain are truly one of the most difficult problems to solve after years of hypothyroidism. Until recently, we’ve struggled to support you in ways we felt were truly effective in the short and long term until recently.

A new class of drugs have been being used for weight loss have been sweeping the nation, and changing the lives of our patients - and now, we are excited to announce we are expanding our Modern Weight Loss program to people who aren’t currently our patients.

We started Modern Weight Loss with Semaglutide in the fall of 2022 and to say the responses and results have been profound is truly an understatement. Many patients report improvements in appetite regulation, weight trends, and metabolic markers when GLP-1 therapy is paired with nutrition, lifestyle, and clinical support.
‍

* Results vary by individual and depend on medical history, medication tolerance, consistency, nutrition, movement, sleep, and follow-up care.

FAQ

frequently asked questions

01
What kind of results are you seeing?

Many of our patients have reported significant improvements in their relationship with food, weight management, and metabolic health markers. Individual results vary and depend on many factors.

02
What medication do you use in your program?

Modern Thyroid Clinic may prescribe GLP-1 or GIP/GLP-1 medications when clinically appropriate. Medication options, formulation, and pharmacy fulfillment may vary based on clinician review, patient-specific needs, pharmacy availability, and current regulatory requirements.

When compounded medications are prescribed, they are not FDA-approved brand-name medications and are not generic versions of Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, or Zepbound. Compounded medications are prescribed only when determined appropriate by a licensed clinician and are filled by a licensed pharmacy pursuant to an individual patient-specific prescription.

03
Is this a stimulant-based medication?

No. As discussed in the webinar, this is a class of weight loss medication that creates weight loss in two main ways:

-it helps to curb cravings by influencing your neurochemistry and it makes you feel fuller faster and longer.

- It removes excess blood sugar circulating in your body.

04
Is this a good choice for thyroid patients?

I actually believe it’s the best choice for thyroid patients. It begins to repair the damage done to your metabolism because of hypothyroidism. Because of this, when you come off of the medication, your metabolic function is better than when you went on the medication. This medication is not contraindicated in people with thyroid conditions, with the exception of a history/family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma.

05
What is the minimum age requirement to participate in your Modern Weight Loss program?

To participate in our weight loss program, patients must be 18 years of age or older. This age requirement ensures that participants are at an appropriate stage of physical development to benefit from our program safely and effectively.

06
Will I have to be on the medication forever?

Because our patient population is a particular type, people and women with metabolic damage due to a thyroid condition, your experience and need for semaglutide/GLP 1 agonists is very different than others in the general population. We work to solve your thyroid problem together (after all, that’s why you came to see us in the first place). Now, we simply need to unravel the metabolic damage from your previous imbalanced thyroid, repair that damage so that your metabolism works better long into the future.

07
What is the cost of the program?

We offer flexible and affordable pricing options to suit your needs. You can choose a one-time payment of $357, or a 3-month bundle price of $1,041 for Semaglutide prescriptions.  For Tirzepatide prescriptions, there is one-time payment of $425.  Whether you prefer to pay upfront or bundle and save, there's an option that's right for you.

08
What is included in the cost?

The cost of the program is all-inclusive with the exception of labs. You do not need to pay for appointments or medication in addition to the monthly fee. The program also includes a group lab review every 3 months to see how you labs are progressing and how well your body is responding to the medication on a measurable level. We utilize your insurance to run your labs. If you do not have insurance, we can connect you with a deeply discounted cash-pay lab.

This is accomplished by utilizing an online course structure for weekly instructions and guidance.

Additionally, we have a live call each week with our health coach where we discuss a topic pertaining to the program as well as answer any questions you may have. These calls are recorded for replay later.

You will also have access to our facebook group to connect with others in the program which has been a blast.

Lastly you will receive a private email address where you can reach our health coach and our weight loss team to ask any specific questions.

09
What is not included in the program?

The program does not include your lab work. We obtain lab work before starting the program and every 3 months during. We usually bill patient’s insurance for this, however, if you do not have insurance we will connect you with a discount lab we frequently work with. The cost of lab work through them is $89 each time. So roughly, $89, each 3 months.

10
Do you provide care in all 50 states?

We currently provide GLP care in most states; however, services are not yet available in Alaska, Arkansas, Rhode Island, and North Dakota. We are actively working to expand into these states. If you reside in one of these areas, please join our waitlist to be notified as soon as care becomes available.

In one of these states? Join the Waitlist to be notified when we expand to your area.

11
Which states can the pharmacy ship directly to?

We are now able to ship to all 50 states and have no restrictions for Semaglutide.

12
I live out of country, can I be a candidate for the Modern Weight Loss Program?

Due to regulatory requirements and compliance standards, our Weight Loss Program is only available to participants who reside within the United States and have a valid, residential U.S. address for medication delivery. This policy is in place to ensure the highest standards of clinical care and adherence to clinic licensing and pharmacy regulations.

As a result, participants living outside the United States are not eligible to join our program. This includes situations where medications might be rerouted to a friend or family member's address within the U.S. Additionally, we cannot ship medications internationally due to the risk of temperature regulation and potential loss of medication efficacy during transit.

13
Does my insurance need to agree to cover the medication?

No, our program is independent of insurance limitations which again, allows it to change and improve so many more people’s lives.

14
Can I use my HSA/FSA card?

Yes, you can.

15
Am I a candidate if I only have 10-15 pounds to lose?

ABSOLUTELY. In fact, this is so exciting to me as I feel that so often, these women/people aren’t offered any help or solutions and even 10-15 pounds can be discouraging and frustrating.

16
How long will I be on the medication?

Honestly, there’s no one size fits all answer for this. It depends on so many factors. What I can say is that I would estimate the average duration for most of our patients is around 6 months.

17
Are these medications safe?

GLP-1 medications may be appropriate for some patients, but they are not right for everyone. Our clinicians review medical history, contraindications, current medications, labs when appropriate, and patient goals before determining whether treatment is appropriate.

18
Are these medications safe for people with thyroid conditions like Hashimoto’s or hypothyroidism?

There are no contraindications for people with thyroid conditions like hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s. They are however contraindicated for thyroid with a history or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma. We also discourage people from their use with anyone with history of thyroid cancer in general.

19
What are side effects of the medication?

As with any medication, side effects are possible. The most commonly reported side effect is mild nausea, which typically resolves within the first few weeks. Our medical team monitors patients closely and can adjust dosing to minimize discomfort. Your provider will discuss the full risk profile during your evaluation.

‍
For our program specifically, I definitely go through these more in-depth in the webinar so please, please watch that before making a decision. But the most common side effects are dehydration (from not drinking enough water) and about 10% experiencing some nausea for 24 hours or so each week. Especially at first. I have yet to have a single person stop the medication due to side effects. Overall, they have been very mild in nature over 95% of the time. One of the powerful benefits of using compounded medications is that we can adjust the dosage specifically for you because we are not using pre-loaded syringes. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not review compounded medications for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are dispensed. Compounded medications may only be appropriate when a licensed clinician determines there is a patient-specific clinical need. As with all medication, side effects are possible. Your prescribing provider will review potential risks and side effects specific to your prescribed medication during your evaluation. For general information about GLP-1 receptor agonists, speak with your medical team.

20
Are branded GLP-1 medications prescribed?

Our medications are prepared by licensed 503A compounding pharmacies based on individual patient prescriptions from our medical providers. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and are not substitutes for commercially available products. Our medical team evaluates each patient to determine the most appropriate treatment option.

20
Are compoounded medications the same as brand-name medications?

No. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and are not the same as FDA-approved brand-name medications. They may differ in formulation, concentration, ingredients, delivery method, and pharmacy preparation standards. A clinician will determine whether a compounded medication is appropriate for an individual patient.

21
Is everyone eligible for GLP-1 medications?

No, not everyone is eligible for GLP-1 medications. Eligibility is determined based on a comprehensive assessment of each patient's medical history and specific health needs. Our medical team will evaluate each case individually to determine the best course of treatment.

22
How do I order my next vial?
